Ronald Reagan with dramatic
		      fraternity

Ronald Reagan was a member of Alpha Epsilon Sigma dramatic fraternity. In 1930, the 14 members assembled for a picture on the steps outside a Eureka College building. The eight young women members sit on short stools and form the first row. The men stand behind them. The women are wearing skirts that are short enough to show their legs from the knees down. Their shoes are dark, and several have straps or laces; two are boots that reach above their ankles. It is cool outside and the girls wear jackets or long coats of dark wool or leather. Two of the coats have wide fur collars. The girl in the middle has on a heavy, white, cardigan sweater. They all have short hair; only one blond among them. They all smile and look directly at the camera, except one girl whose eyes are cast down and her lips are tight. Her hair is very short, like a boy’s, and parted on her right side. A large hank of hair falls to a point over her forehead to her eyebrows. Reagan stands in the middle of the row of young men. He is by far the most engaging of the group, exuding an energy and sense of style and showmanship. He has a half-smile on his face and looks out at the camera. He is wearing reading glasses with dark frames. The fur collar on his coat stands up against his neck in the back. He is wearing a white shirt and tie and a dark sweater and tan pants. His hands are in his pockets. He holds two books under his right arm. The other young men are wearing sweaters or suits. They look pleasantly at the camera.
