![]() Ronald Reagan played the part of Thyrsis in the play Ariada Copo at Eureka College in 1931. The posed photograph shows five actors on a small stage. They are surrounded on three sides by floor-length curtains. There is a small table on stage covered to the floor with a light-colored cloth that has dark circles imprinted on it. A large, broad white bowl has been placed in front of the young woman (on the left) and young man (on the right) who are seated at either end of the table. There are several, boldly patterned pillows on the floor at the ends of the stage. The woman wears a light color, sleeveless summer dress with shoulder straps. She is wearing dark stockings and shoes. On her head, she wears a wide dark band and attached to it a circular piece of fabric covers part of her forehead above her right eye. Her hands are crossed in her lap. Her legs are crossed at her ankles. The young man appears to be wearing a scull cap and what looks like a clown outfit that has a wide collar. It covers him completely. Behind the seated couple stand the three other actors: Reagan behind the woman, another young man dressed like him stands behind the seated man. In the middle is a woman covered from head to toe in a loose-fitting, monochromatic costume. She appears to be sitting on a throne. She wears a large hat and her long hair hangs from underneath it to her waist. Her arms are crossed at her waist. Reagan, and the other man, wear togas that are dark at the top and lighter from the waist down. The toga covers only their left shoulders. | |
