Workshops

A series of workshops were held in March and April at various locations around the state to provide interested librarians and library staff members with hands-on training and orientation to the various components of audio description.  Topics included:

Tom Peters of TAP Information Services has been hired by the Alliance Library System to plan, organize, and conduct these workshops.  Channy Lyons, an experienced audio describer based in Peoria, is helping Tom create the content for these workshops.  Also, throughout the spring and summer both Channy and Tom will be available in online meetings rooms and via the telephone for follow-up assistance as each digital imaging team develops audio descriptions. 

 

Workshops in 2008:

• Monday, April 7, 2008
  This workshop will cover the purpose, techniques, and value of Audio Description (AD), a narrative technique that makes visual images more accessible to blind and low-vision people by producing written and audible descriptions of non-verbal visual information, such as digital photographs, television programs, motion pictures, and live events. Please note: This workshop will last approximately 2.5 hours.
